After researching our perpetrating problems and, more significantly, researching various organizations that have their own plans to counter organ trafficking in China, we as students aspired to create a call to action that we and our peers can follow to help fight against this critical issue.
Firstly, one of the easiest things we can do is sign a petition. Doctors Against Forced Organ Trafficking have created a petition to the United Nations that calls for the Chinese government to immediately end organ harvesting and persecution of Falun Gong petitioners, and calls for the United Nations High Commissioner to initiate investigations that will bring about the prosecution of perpetrators involved with such crimes. Signing the petition will allow you to directly fight against a strong link in the whole issue of organ harvesting in China.
Secondly, as U.S. citizens, one can become an organ donor. There are three primary ways to do this: you can select "yes" to an organ donation on a driver's license, you can sign a donor card, or you can participate in a Organ Donor Registry, a state-specific program available online, by mail or in person.
One of the most important things potentially anyone can do is to raise awareness. Talk to your friends and family about this issue, and direct them to our website. You can share this website through facebook, google+ and other social media websites through the side-bar on the right.
Lastly, if you can afford it, you can donate to the World Health Organization through their website. Donating will help fund essential WHA meetings and reach out to international governments like China to end organ trafficking.
